Walter Ackerman, 91, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Streeter, ND, died Thursday December 22, 2005 at the Central Dakota Village in Jamestown, ND.
Walter Ackerman was born April 19, 1914, SE of Streeter, ND, the son of Jacob Ackerman and Katherine (Stroh) Ackerman. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity.
He and Helen Hins were married November 14, 1951 at Medina, ND. They made their home in Nortonville. In 1952 they moved to a farm 2 miles west of Medina until 1955 when they moved to a farm 2 ½ miles east of Streeter. In 1959 they moved into Streeter. In 1995 they moved to Jud. In 2000 they entered the Gackle Care Center and following the death of his wife in December of 2000 he continued to reside in the Care Center until August 27, 2001 when he entered the Central Dakota Village at Jamestown.
He was a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church at Streeter.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Adeline (Rolin) Nitschke, Jud, ND, Lorraine Hennum, Enderlin, ND, 2 grandsons, Winston and Russel Hennum, 4 brothers and 5 sisters, Edwin (Veronica) Ackerman, Venturia, ND, Reuben Ackerman, Gackle, ND, Hubert (Eileen) Ackerman, Yelm, WA, Elmer (Dena) Ackerman, Litchfield, MN, Helen Fischer, Elk Grove, CA, Lydia Reich, Minot, ND, Freida Wittmier, Steele, ND, Emma Hins, Jmaestown, ND, and Edna Niskanen, Mt. Iron, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 1 son-in-law and 1 sister and 1 sister in infancy.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday December 26, 2005 at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Darrell Schultz, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Streeter, ND.
