Vertice Johnson

Vertice Johnson, 80, Jamestown, ND died Saturday January 21, 2012 at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA.

Vertice Johnson was born June 4, 1931 at Kulm, ND, the son of Herman Johnson and Fannie (Johnson) Johnson. He received his elementary education at the rural school in Swede Township near Kulm. He helped on the family farm and grew to manhood in the vicinity.

He entered the US Army January 10, 1952 at Fargo, ND and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged October 9, 1953 at Ft. Lewis, WA with the rank of CPL.

He and Lois Hopland were married June 3, 1956 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Lead, SD until moving to Seattle, WA where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. They moved to Palmdale, CA where he worked for Lockheed and McDonald Douglas,
later moving to Bethel, AK to work 8 years as a construction engineer. They moved back to Stanwood, WA where he built homes. Following the death of his wife, in 1996, he continued to reside in Washington. He moved to Jamestown, ND in 1997 for his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Darrell (Sue) Johnson, Arlington, WA; Verdean (Beatriz) Johnson, Pacific, WA; 2 daughters, Vicki (Ron) Maddy and Denise (Alan) Dalla Santa, both of Renton, WA; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harry (Diane) Johnson, Jamestown, ND; Leo (Barbara) Johnson, Kulm, ND; 2 sisters, Ardella (Roger) Grenz, Spokane, WA and Lavonne (Darwin) Woehl, Lodi, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday January 28, 2012 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Larry Gunther, officiating.

The interment will be at the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.
