Tillie Dewald, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday morning January 10, 2006 at her home in Jamestown, ND.

Tillie Mertz was born May 28, 1924 at rural Tappen, ND the daughter of John Mertz and Christina (Reuer) Mertz. She attended the local school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.

She and Arthur A. Dewald were married June 28, 1945 in Napoleon, ND.
They made their home west of Streeter on the Dewald's home place where they farmed until 1980 when they retired to Jamestown. They enjoyed traveling, bowling, golfing, fishing and playing pinochle.

She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown, and also was a member St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Streeter, having served as a Sunday School Teacher and also a member of the ALCW and the Homemakers. She volunteered time at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children in Jamestown, ND and also enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are her husband, Jamestown, ND, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Arlyce (Harold) Klein and Kathleen (Jim) Brunner, all of Jamestown, ND, 7 grandchildren, Michelle (Brad) Jeske, Dustin (Sarah) Miller, Kimberly (Chad) Henrich, Jaleen Brunner, Douglas Miller, Joseph Brunner, Nicole Miller, 4 great grandsons, Cadyn Miller, Desmond Miller, Jackson Henrich, Sawyer Henrich, 3 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 1 sister, Martha Schumacher, Streeter, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday January 16, 2006 in the Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Steven Berntson pastor officiating.

Interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery, Streeter, ND.
Visitation - 9-5 Saturday, 1-9 Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Prayer Ser. 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials: Jamestown Hospice or Atonement Lutheran Church both in Jamestown, ND.
