Sam Berg, 78, Fargo, ND died early Tuesday morning September 4, 2012 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND.
Walter S. Berg was born March 31, 1934 at Bismarck, ND, the son Christ Berg and Elizabeth (Newmiller) Berg. He attended Bismarck schools graduating from Bismarck High School in 1952. He started working for Gamble Skogmo in 1951 at the Bismarck store.
He and Betty Ann Volk were married June 24, 1954 in Bismarck, ND. They made their home in Bismarck where he continued to work for Gamble Skogmo. May 6, 1958 he entered the United States Army serving between active Army and Reserves. In 1961 they moved to Morris, MN until 1963 when they moved to Dickinson, ND. He received an Honorable discharge from the Army on April 30, 1964 in Dickinson, ND. In 1966 they moved to Idaho Falls, ID until 1970 when they moved to Fargo, ND where he was a District Manager for Tempo. In the 1970's he owned and operated the Gambles Store in the Village West Shopping Center. His last employment was in Sales with Cook Sign in Fargo.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, ND, Elks, Muskies Inc., ND Ag Association, Pheasants Forever. He also volunteered for many years with the Fargo Air Sho.
Surviving are his children, Deb Herbaugh, Little Falls, MN, Mike and Jennifer Berg, Missy and Al Haut, Fargo, ND, 5 grandchildren, Brady & Alyssa Herbaugh, Kayla & Kyle Berg, Adam Haut, 1brother and sister, Art Berg, Lincoln, CA and Freda Leno, Bismarck, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Ann in 1995, one child, Connie Mary in infancy, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorial Mass will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo, ND with Monsignor Jeffrey L. Wald, Presiding.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM Thursday September 6, 2012 at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck, ND on Saturday at 10:00
