Ruth Gahner

Ruth Gahner, 88, Beulah, ND died peacefully, on Saturday September 17, 2011 at the Knife River Care Center in Beulah, ND.

Ruth Entzminger was born May 29, 1923 on the home place near Kulm, ND, the 4th of 7 children of Jacob Entzminger and Katherina (Reich) Entzminger. She attended Kulm Baptist Church. She attended Swede Township School through 8th grade and went 1 year to Jud High School.

She and Theodore Gahner were married March 2, 1946 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home on a farm near Jud, ND until moving to a farm near Spiritwood, ND where they farmed for 6 years. In 1951 they moved to a farm southwest of Ypsilanti, ND where they farmed until retiring in 1979. They moved to Gackle, ND for their retirement. After the death of her husband, on October 17, 1990, she continued to reside in Gackle. In 1996 Ruth moved into the Gardenette at Jamestown, ND where she lived until moving to the Schoolhouse Apartments in Beulah, ND, in December 2005, to be near family. Ruth moved to the Knife River Care Center in February, 2010.

She was member of the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle, ND and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Gackle.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Mary Lou Simonson, Beulah, ND; 4 sons, Kenneth (Jean Ellen) Gahner Fallbrook, CA; Jerry (Marie) Gahner, Beulah, ND; Theodore Gahner, Jr., Edgeley, ND; Richard (fiancée-Karen Kachtik) Gahner, Orange, TX; 1 daughter-in-law, Margaret Gahner, Lewiston, ID; 9 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 1 brother, Paul Entzminger, Boise, ID and 1 sister, Violet Nell, Ellendale, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son, Harvey; 1daughter, Gloria, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

The Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday September 23, 2011 at Sunset Prairie Chapel in Jamestown, ND, ND with Rev. Tim Blackman, officiating.

The interment will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: 4 - 7 Thursday September 22, 2011 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.
