Rose Schlaht, 88, Jamestown, ND died Thursday morning September 27, 2007 at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Rose Martel was born April 16, 1919 on the family farm southwest of Medina, ND, the daughter of John Martel and Rose (Rott) Martel. She received her elementary education at the local rural school while helping on the family farm and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.

She and Charles Schlaht were married June 4, 1939 in Medina, ND. They made their home on a farm SE of Medina. After the death of Charles in 1970, Rose moved to Jamestown worked at the North Dakota State Hospital as a waitress in the dietary service and was promoted to Waitress II in December of 1977 and held the position until 1979 when she retired due to her health.

She and Ed Bonnet were married August 27, 1983 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Jamestown. Following the death of her husband, Ed, she continued to reside in Jamestown.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Jamestown. She also was a member of the V.F.W. 760 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by 2 daughter, Marlene (Lloyd) Buckmeier, Renton, WA; Sandra Miller, New Braunfels, TX; 1 daughter-in-law, Arlene (Stahlhut)(Gary) Geisinger, Jamestown, ND; 7 grandchildren; Lynette McLean, Anthony Buckmeier, Lorrie Thompson, Angela Schlaht, Cory Schlaht,Sonja Halligan, Justin Horning, 3 step daughters, Verna (Jack) Nienow, Alice Ackerman, Betty (Bill) Snippes 2 step son, Gary and James Bonnet, 6 great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her dear son Gerald; 5 brothers,Ernest,Ferdinand John, George, David and 4 sisters, Amelia, Adelia, Mary and Ida. Rose was the last member of her family.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday October 1, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Wayne Bangs, officiating.

The interment will be at the Medina Cemetery in Medina, ND.
