Rose Marie Paasch, 82, Jamestown, ND formerly of Wimbledon passed away, Monday February 21, 2011 in Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.
Rose Marie Oglesby was born September 6, 1928, in Uxbridge Township near Wimbledon, ND, the daughter of Arthur Oglesby and Alfreda (Flach) Oglesby. Rose was the 5th of 7 children. She attended rural Uxbridge Township School. She was baptized, confirmed and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Wimbledon.
She married Ernest Paasch on May 4, 1946. They made their home on a farm southwest of Wimbledon and in 1952 moved to a farm near Spiritwood Lake. The Paasch family owned and operated a grain and dairy farm for many years. Rose was known as a very hard worker. In addition to doing the usual household chores and caring for 5 children, Rose helped with milking, operating farm equipment and maintaining a large garden. She was also an excellent cook.
They retired from farming in1976 and moved into Wimbledon where they operated the Korner Inn for a short time. She was employed by Wimbledon Implement and later Wimbledon Public School where she worked as a cook for several years, a job she truly loved. She was proud to have the school annual dedicated in her name upon retirement.
After the death of her husband, in September 1991, Rose stayed in Wimbledon until she moved to Valley City in 1998. In 2000 she became a resident of the Special Care Unit of Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND. She had endured Alzheimer's for many years.
Rose will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and care-giver to others; in particular, her mother, Frieda, Aunt Belle, and sister-in-law, Annie, until their passing. She will also be remembered by all who knew her for her witty sense of humor, pranks she would pull and for the surprises she carried in her purse. She was a fun person to be around and a caring giving friend and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her, and especially her family who she deeply cared for and they loved her in return.
