Bob was born July 10, 1954, in San Diego, CA, to Robert and Shirley (Bailey) Raney Sr. He was raised and educated in Kelso, WA. Bob was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longview. He attended Highline College (WA) and the College of Mortuary Science in San Francisco, CA. Bob was a licensed funeral director in Washington and Oregon, where he co-owned a trade embalming business. He also worked as a respiratory therapist at Portland Adventist Medical Center, Portland, OR. Bob's life was forever changed when he met the love of his life, Rose Marie Buck. Leading up to their wedding, Bob worked hard to master polka dancing. They were married on August 8, 1992 in Vancouver, WA.

Bob made it possible for Rose to be a traveling nurse, managing her contracts and travels throughout the United States. He safely transported her to and from assignments, all while being a wonderful house husband.

Bob took great pleasure in producing videos for his nieces' and nephews' weddings and numerous family occasions. Family events were a highlight in his life. Even though Bob came from a small family, he married into a large one and fit right in. His sense of humor was one-of-a-kind and his smile lit up every room. When he started laughing, you had no choice but to join him. You never had to ask Bob twice to lend a helping hand; his generosity was abundant. Above all, Bob's unwavering faith in Jesus was evident in all he did. He was never afraid to witness to anyone in need.

Bob loved singing in the choir, and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longview, WA; the Elks; Ducks Unlimited, and the National Funeral Directors Association.

This gentle giant will be dearly missed by his wife, Rose, Gackle, ND; parents, Bob and Shirley Raney Sr., Kelso, WA; mother-in-law, Alida Buck, Mandan, ND; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert (Cathy) Hamilton, St. Helens, OR, Jennie (James) Rodlund, Stillwater, MN, Douglas (Kathleen) Buck, Bismarck, ND, Sandra (Edward) Holzer, Bismarck, ND, Joseph (Teri) Buck, Battle Ground, WA, Donald (Teresa) Buck, Zap, ND, Renae (Roger) Emter, Mandan, ND, Craig (Yvonne) Buck, Lake Forest, CA, and Melody (Robert) Rhodes, Seattle, WA; and many special nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Hamilton; father-in-law, Alvin Buck and brother-in-law, Darrel Buck.
