Robert Higginbotham, 79, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Valley City, ND died Wednesday February 23, 2011 in Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Robert Higginbotham was born September 4, 1931 at Jamestown, ND, the son of Albert C. Higginbotham and Marie (Metcalf) Higginbotham. He received his education at Valley City, ND and Graduated from Valley City High School in 1949. He graduated from Valley City State University in 1959 with a degree in Education.
He entered the US Navy in 1952 as an Airman and served during the Korean War in Hawaii and California and was honorably discharged January 1956 in San Francisco, CA with the rank of AD3.
He and Roberta Stone were married August 30, 1953 at Joplin, MO. After the military, he was a teacher and taught from 1960 until 1972 in Glendive, MT, Benson, MN and Wahpeton, ND. He then worked in sales until his retirement in Valley City, ND.
He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City, ND. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his 3 children, Curtis Higginbotham, Barnesville, MN; Barry (Jackie) Higginbotham, Ft. Pierre, SD; Pam (Chad) Lentz, Barnesville, MN, 6 grandchildren and 1 sister, Betty Carter, Breckenridge, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Stuart, and 1 brother John.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Monday February 28, 2011 at the Lerud Peterson Funeral Chapel in Valley City, ND with Pastor Dan Bader, officiating.
Interment will be in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan ND.
