Robert Van Dyke, 69, Gackle, ND died Monday May 25, 2009 at the Faribault Commons Nursing Home in Faribault, MN.
Bob was born June 7, 1939 at Freemont, MI, the son of Teunis Van Dyke and Ila (Andrews) Van Dyke. He attended the Freemont Public School and grew to manhood in the area.
He entered the United States Air Force in 1956 and was separated in 1961 with the rank of E-4.
He and Margaret Neva were married February 20, 1965 at Chicago, IL. In 1967 they moved to Jamestown where he drove truck for Mayer Truck Line. Following the death of his wife February 28, 1988, he continued to reside in Jamestown until retiring and entering the Gackle Care Center in 2006.
He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.
He is survived by 3 children, Andrew (Janneil) Van Dyke, Maricopa, AZ; Carol (Rick) Gallop, Pueblo, CO; Joan Van Dyke, Faribault, MN; 1 son-in-law, Rob Rowell, Faribault, MN; 8 grandchildren, 1 sister, Kathryn Hansen, Freemont, MI; and 1 brother, William (Lois) Van Dyke, Freemont, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 daughters, Kay and Lynda, and 1 brother, John.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday May 30, 2009 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.
The inurnment will be made in the Kensal Cemetery at Kensal, ND.
