Richard "Buckshot" Kutz, 97, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday March 10, 2009 at the Ave Marie Village in Jamestown, ND.
Richard Kutz was born November 3, 1911 in Symco, WI, the son of Adolph Kutz and Mimi (Boelke) Kutz. At an early age he came with his parents and settled on a farm near Sykeston, ND. He received his elementary education at the local rural school and grew to manhood in the vicinity and helped on the family farm Southwest of Sykeston.
He and Opal Simonson were married September 3, 1938 in Sykeston, ND. They made their home on a farm 5 miles south of Sykeston where they farmed until 1946 when they moved to Milaca, MN. In 1952 they moved to a farm south of Woodworth until 1970, when they moved into Jamestown, but continued farming near Nortonville. In 1978 they retired. Following the death of his wife June 24, 1980, he continued to reside in Jamestown.
He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown.
He is survived by his 3 children, James Kutz, Devils Lake, ND, Richard (Lenora) Kutz Jr., Spiritwood, ND, Mavis McCleary, LaMoure, ND, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Elsie Barry, New Salem, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday March 14, 2009 at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Tom Eckstein, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens at Jamestown, ND.
