Ray Kapp, 84, Kulm, ND died Saturday August 22, 2009 at the Med Center One Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Raymond Kapp was born June 18, 1925 in McIntosh County, the son of Konrad Kapp and Mary (Eisenbeis) Kapp. He attended the local school where he received his elementary education and general education. He later attended Bible College at the Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, NE.
He entered the United States Navy November 12, 1943 and served during WW II. He was discharged February 26, 1945 at Corona, CA with the rank of FN2.
Ray and Esther Eslinger were married August 12, 1945 in the Nazareth Congregational Church at Fredonia, ND and they were blessed with twin daughters and later with two other daughters. The family moved to Lincoln, NE in 1950 where they lived for many years. Ray was a devoted husband and father and was dearly loved by his family.
In 1956, Ray and Esther committed their lives to the Lord and attended Bible College. They became missionaries to Hanau, Germany where they ministered to many in the armed forces and displaced persons who escaped from Eastern Germany. They returned to the U.S. in 1963 and ministered in Brookings, SD. They later pastored churches in Beaver Crossing and Seward, NE and finally returned home to pastor Berlin Baptist Church in Fredonia for 8 years until retirement.
He is survived by his, daughters, Cheryl and husband, Ramon Omana, Richmond, VA, Carole and husband, Brian Burgess, Denver, CO, Paulette Kapp, Aberdeen, NC, Joy and husband, David Thornton, Matthews, VA, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther, 1 grandson, Michael Ray, 3 brothers, Alvin, Ellis, and Elmer, and 1 sister, Mary Lu.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday August 26, 2009 in the Nazareth Congregational Church in Fredonia, ND, with Rev. Bernie Jasken, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Nazareth Congregational Cemetery at Fredonia, ND.
