Ralph Geinert, 84, Alfred, ND died Sunday morning December 28, 2008 at the Wishek Home of the Aged in Wishek, ND.

Ralph was born April 16, 1924, near Jud, ND, the son of Michael Geinert and Minnie (Entzminger) Geinert. He attended local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity.

He entered the United State Army February 25, 1945 at Jefferson, MO. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was discharged November 20, 1946 at Fort Bliss, TX, with rank of Private First Class.

He and Louise Ziemann were married September 17, 1948 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Alfred where he worked at the Grain Elevator, until 1949 when he went to work at the Sydney Elevator until 1950. In 1959 he went to work road construction for 17 years. In 1976 he worked for Solinger Lumber until 1984. He then helped his brother Roy on the farm.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, ND and the American Legion for 48 years.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, Wishek, ND, 4 sons and 4 daughters, Erich M. (Cathee) Geinert, Carson, WA; Kathleen A. (Howard) Rolfe, Palermo, ND; Orrin D. (Anita) Geinert, Gurley, AZ; Craig R. (Mary) Geinert, Helena, MT; Dani L. (Lori) Geinert, Gackle, ND; Lynea L. Geinert, St. Paul, MN; Kristee L.A. (Karl) Freadoff, Judson, ND; Wendy J. (Grant) Stieger, Argusville, ND, 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Floyd Geinert, Valley City, ND; Marvin Geinert, Backus, MN; 1 sister, Loraine Liggit, CT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday January 4, 2009 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Gackle, ND, with Pastor Russ Pollock, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Alfred Cemetery at Alfred, ND.

Visitation - 1-8 Friday and 9-8 Saturday at the funeral Home
