Paul Mayer, 92, Jamestown, ND died Thursday evening August 21, 2008 at the Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Paul Mayer was born February 1, 1916 on the family farm home Southwest of Medina, ND, the son of Emil Mayer and Elizabeth (Moser) Mayer. He received his elementary education at the local rural school and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm. He entered the United States Army on April 13, 1942 at Bismarck, ND and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and was honorably discharged January 10, 1946 at Ft. Lewis, WA with the rank of CPL.

He and Martha Kolb were married June 30, 1946 at Medina, ND. They made their home on a farm Southwest of Medina, where they farmed until 1961 when they moved into Jamestown. In Jamestown they owned and operated the Round House Café for 2 years. He then worked for the Jamestown College. Also, he and Martha became Adult Foster Care Parents, and continued to be active in Adult Foster Care Parenting until 1986 when they retired. After the death of his wife Martha, September 6, 1994, he continued to live in Jamestown.

He was a member of the St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND. He was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his children Delphine (Kevin) Beaver, Binford, ND; Gary (LuEllen) Mayer, Jamestown, ND; 3 grandchildren, Dorreen Beaver, Binford, ND; Denise (Franklin) Eslinger, Hannaford, ND; Laura Jo Oats, Jamestown, ND; 4 great grandchildren, Michael Beaver; Reece Heery; Anun Eslinger; Lydia Eslinger; 3 brothers, Eddie (Doris) Mayer, Streeter, ND; Wilbert (Erma) Mayer, Jamestown, ND; Gene (Ramona) Mayer, Medina, ND; 2 sisters, Lorraine (Walter) Ruff, Colorado Springs, CO; Martha Ruff, Jamestown , ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha and 1 sister, Clara Ranta.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday August 25, 2008 at the St. Pauls United Methodist church in Jamestown with Rev. Kenrad Pederson, officiating.

The interment will be at Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.

Arrangements are with the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.
