Ottilia âTillie' Wentz, 89, Tigard, OR, died Saturday April 2, 2005 at her home in Tigard, OR.
Tillie Rau was born May 20, 1915 in Logan County, near Napoleon, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Kathrine (Himmerich) Rau. She attended the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.
She and Milton Wentz were married March 18, 1934 in rural Napoleon, ND.
They made their home on a farm Southwest of Streeter, ND where they farmed until 1958. In 1958 they moved to Gackle, ND where they resided until June 2001 when they moved to Edgewood Vista in Bismarck, ND. In November 2002 they moved to Beaverton, OR and following the death of her husband July 30, 2003 she has continued to reside in Oregon.
She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Streeter and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle. She also was active in the Ladies Aid and the Germans from Russia.
Surviving are her 3 daughters, Marlene Wagner, Bismarck, ND, Marcella (Lyle) Reese, Tigard, OR, Lucille (Alvin) Kuhn, McMinnville, OR, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Edwin (Rose) Rau, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, and 1 son-in-law, Emil Wagner.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday April 9, 2005 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, North Dakota with Rev. Russ Pollock, pastor officiating.
Interment will be made in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery at Streeter, ND.
