Orvind Bertsch, 80, formerly of Lehr, ND, died Wednesday October 4, 2006 at the North Dakota Veteran's Home in Lisbon, ND.
Orvind Bertsch was born June 3, 1926 at the family farm home near Danzig, ND, the son of Adam Bertsch and Elizabeth (Koepplin) Bertsch. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.
Orvind entered the United States Air Force July 16, 1945 at Fort Snelling, MN. He was discharged December 17, 1945 at Greensboro, NC with the rank of Private.
He and Violet Wolf were married October 14, 1948 at Eureka, SD. They made their home on the farm near Lehr where they farmed until 1992 when they moved into Jamestown. They managed Tan America and Style Center I until 1998 when they retired.
He was a member of Klauss-Becker American Legion Post 218 at Lehr, ND for 48 years, longtime member of the Lehr Wildlife Club, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles member.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Vickie (Roger) Martin, Linton, ND, 3 sons, Kenny Bertsch, Larkspur, CO, Karmen (Mary Beth) Bertsch, Jamestown, ND, Kelly (Dee) Bertsch, Bismarck, ND, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 1 sister, Erma ( Edwin) Walz, Ashley, ND, 2 brothers, Eldin (Ida) Bertsch, Ellendale, ND, and Clayton (Pearl) Bertsch, Ypsilanti, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Elmer.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday October 9, 2006 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Wishek, ND, with Rev. Rick Craig, officiating.
The interment will be made in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery at Mandan, ND.
