Orville O. Oleson, 93, Hatton, ND died Tuesday January 22, 2008 at the Tri-County Retirement Home in Hatton, ND.
Orville was born August 4, 1914 at Desmet, SD, the son of Ole J. and Christina (Nelson) Oleson. At an early age he moved with his parents to a farm north of Gackle, ND. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood.
He entered the United States Army March 30, 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN. He served in the European Theater during WW II. He was discharged October 5, 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI with the rank of PFC.
He and Martha Knopp were married August 1, 1942 at Abilene, TX. Following his discharge they began farming south of Cleveland. Following the death of Martha on July 22, 1977 he continued to reside on the farm until 2003 when he moved to Hatton, ND.
He was a member of the Stirton Township Board, V.F.W., the Elks Club and Eagles Club in Jamestown.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Chloe (Dwayne) Anderson, Sheridan, WY, Kristann (Garret) Burkhardt, Valley Center, KS, Cynthia (William) Voller, Hatton, ND, and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday January 26, 2008 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor David Fischer, officiating
The interment will be at Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND in the spring.
