Merle Michaelson, 84, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday evening July 15, 2015 at his home in Jamestown, ND.
Merle Michaelson was born February 2, 1931 on the family farm home in Griggs County near Walum, ND, the son of Omer Michaelson and Myrtle (Heyerdahl) Michaelson. He received his education at Dover and Buffalo schools and graduated from Wimbledon High School in 1948.
Merle married Joyce Cresap on June 18, 1952 at Eidfjord Lutheran Church near Walum, ND. They were married for 63 years because of the great love and laughter in their relationship. They made their home in Wimbledon, ND where they farmed and raised registered Hereford cattle. In 2014 they moved to Jamestown, ND. He never retired from raising cattle. He still has a few head left.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wimbledon, ND and served as the secretary for the voter's assembly. He was a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association and he enjoyed raising cattle. He served on the Courtenay school board for many years and was a 4-H Leader.
Merle was the rock of his family. He was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor. He loved his family and was a great role model for his kids and grandkids. He was community-minded and was a helpful neighbor. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, Jamestown, ND; 3 daughters, Amy (Chuck) Wanzek, West Fargo, ND; Carmen Larson, Jamestown, ND; Beth Marsolek, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons, Dean (Cheryl) Michaelson, Wimbledon, ND; Barry (Tammy) Michaelson, Jamestown, ND; 12 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Betty (Paul) Larson, Battle Lake, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.

Interment - Prairie View Cemetery at Wimbledon, ND
