Marvin C. Johnson, 72, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday March 20, 2005 at his home in Jamestown, ND.

Marvin Johnson was born March 1, 1933 at Heimdal, ND, the son of Oscar Johnson and Signe (Vikander) Johnson-Bakken. He received his elementary education at Fessenden Public School and graduated from the Fessenden High School in 1950.

He entered the United States Navy in December 15, 1952 at Fessenden, ND.

He and Dotti Burke were married July 18, 1959 at Carson City, NV. They made their home in Moffet Field, San Jose, CA and moved to Atoka, TN in 1962 and later to Chula Vista, CA. He retired from the Navy in January 10, 1972 at Coronado Air Force Base at San Diego, CA having received 4 Good Conduct Medals, the Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Victory Medal, China Service Extended, 4 Vietnam Service Ribbons and Air Crew Wings, and was honorably discharged the with rank of Aviation Tech 1st Class.

In 1974 they moved back to the Harvey area where they worked at the Water Utility Department. They moved to Jamestown, ND in 1979 where he went to work at the Jamestown Municipal Water Department and became Supervisor. He retired in 1999 and continued to reside in Jamestown.

He was a member of Hoff Lutheran Church in Heimdal, ND, V.F.W. Post 760, Eagles Club in Jamestown.

He is survived by his 4 children, Gerald "Jerry" Johnson, Phoenix, AZ; Lee Anna (Damon) Peter, Valley City, ND; Duane Johnson, Fargo, ND; Warren (Katrina) Johnson, Jamestown, ND, 5 grandchildren; his mother, Signe Johnson-Bakken, Heimdal, ND, 4 brothers, James (Mavis) Johnson, Heimdal, ND; Gordon (Dorothy) Johnson, Stillwater, OK; Dennis (Norma) Johnson, Fargo, ND, and Everette (Delores) Johnson, Heimdal, ND and 1 sister, Delores "Dee Dee" Jenson, Wapheton, ND.

He was preceded in death by his father and 1 brother, Norris.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday March 26, 2005 in the Hoff Lutheran Church in Heimdal, ND with Fred Schmidt, pastoral assistant, officiating.

The interment will be at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Heimdal, ND.
