Marvin "Duke" Duletsky, 75, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Williston, ND, and Apache Junction, AZ died Monday January 18, 2010 at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, ND following complication from cancer.
Marvin Duletsky was born August 2, 1934 at Belfield, ND, the son of Peter Duletsky and Maria (Basaraba) Duletsky. He received his elementary education and graduated from Belfield High School. He grew to manhood in the vicinity. He worked in the dairy in Belfield and served in the National Guard. He was drafted into the US Army in 1959 and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1961 with the rank of Spec. 4.
He and Gertrude (Heinrich) Petersen were married on February 11, 1961, taking on a ready made family of 4 girls and adding 2 more. They made their home in Jamestown where he drove truck for Dan Dugan and Standard Oil while doing contracting work on the side. He went into construction full time with his daughters helping him. He and his son-in-law Terry went into partnership creating T & M Construction, building homes and pole buildings.
Marvin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamestown. He served as Treasurer, Usher and was a member of the church council. He was also a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Williston, ND. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He also loved dancing, particularly to Polka and Waltz music. Many hours were spent dancing in the front rooms and kitchens of the places they lived; dancing with his wife and teaching his daughters to dance.
He will be sadly missed, especially by his wife and daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Duletsky, Jamestown, ND; 6 daughters, Shirley (Tom) Yingling, Wichita, KS; Leila (Terry) Petersen, Williston, ND; Cleona Wolff, Wichita, KS; Donna (David) Schwartz, Jamestown, ND; Yvonne (Kevin) Olson, Jamestown, ND; Brenda (CJ) Wolff, Whitefish, MT; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Victor (Ann) Duletsky, Sebastopol, CA; Stanley (Pat) Duletsky, Billings, MT and 1 sister, Stella (Wayne) Glass, Dewey, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday January 21, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamestown, with Pastor Wendell Kopperud, officiating.
Prayer Service - 7:00 PM Wednesday January 20, 2010 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND.
