Martha Kleingartner

Martha Kleingartner, 95, Gackle, ND, died Sunday May 22, 2005, at Central Dakota Village, in Jamestown, ND.

Martha Miller was born September 13, 1909 15 mile southwest of Gackle, ND, the daughter of Peter Miller and Magdalena (Veil) Miller. She received her education at the local rural elementary school while helping on the farm, and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.

She and Balzer Kleingartner were married June 9, 1936 at Gackle, ND. They made their home on a farm 11 miles southwest of Gackle. Following the death of her husband, April 7, 1956, she continued to reside on the farm until the fall when she moved into Gackle. In May of 2001 she moved into the Gackle Care Center and December 31, 2004 she moved into the Central Dakota Village, in Jamestown, ND.

She was a member of the First Congregational UCC Church in Gackle. She also was a member of the UCC Guiding Light, a life member of the Gackle Senior Citizens, and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, attending high school basketball games, traveling and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Martha was recognized with articles in the local paper and the Fargo Forum for providing the "Martha's Taxi Service".

She is survived by her 2 sons, Melvin (Sharon) Kleingartner, Princeton, MN; Edwin (Sharon) Kleingartner, Bozeman, MT; 2 daughters, Helen Kleingartner, Blaine, MN; Lillian (Dayton) Ward, New Brighton, MN; 6 stepsons, Rupert (Lorraine) Kleingartner, Gackle, ND; Irvin (Edna) Kleingartner, Jamestown, ND; Gordon (Laverna) Kleingartner; Albin (Joyce) Kleingartner; Norman (Karen) Kleingartner all of Gackle, ND, Norbert (LuElla) Kleingartner, Fargo, ND; 1 sister-in-law, Emma Miller,Jamestown, ND 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Friday May 27, 2005 in the First United Church of Christ in Gackle, ND with Rev. Barbara Murray, pastor officiating
The interment will be at Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND. Funeral Arrangements are with the Haut Funeral Homes in Gackle, ND.
Visitation: 1-5 Tuesday at the Funeral Home in Jamestown
9-9 Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home in Gackle.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home in Gackle, ND.
