Magdalena ‘Lena' Kaiser, 96, Wishek, ND died Saturday evening March 24, 2012 at the Wishek Home for the Aged.

Lena Martin was born January 9, 1916 on the family farm in Logan County, ND the daughter of Ludwig Martin and Amelia (Liebig) Martin. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and Joseph Kaiser were married on November 21, 1935 at Steele, ND. They made their home on a farm in Logan County. In 1943 they moved to the Kaiser homestead in the Streeter Flat area where they resided. Following the death of Joe on July 18, 1972 she continued to reside on the farm until January of 1973 when she and Kelly moved into Wishek. Lena worked at the Wishek Nursing Home as an Aide. She also worked at the bowling alley. She entered the Wishek Home for the Aged in 2008.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lehr, ND where she was a member of Dorcas, and was Bible school and Sabbath school teacher, she also enjoyed singing. She was an active member of the Wishek Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and spending time with her family. She attended her grandson's wedding in Hawaii and went on Family Cruises. She always had a smile and was always willing to help anyone in need.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She made the best of any situation and had a host of life long friends. She loved her caregivers at the nursing home and they loved her in return. She loved the Lord and sang on a daily basis.

She is survived by her children, Rudy Kaiser, Ulen, MN; Evangeline (Larry) Herpel, Duluth, MN; Roger (Frankie) Kaiser, Tappen, ND; Jo (Victor) Vilhauer; Wishek, ND; Stanley (special friend Carol) Las Vegas, NV; Kelly Kaiser, Bloomington, MN; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a sister, Ella Schmidt, Paynesville, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 daughter, Ileen and 1 son who died in infancy; her brothers, Gilbert and his wife Caroline; Herbert and his wife Esther, 1 brother-in-law, Richard Schmidt; 2 daughters-in-law, Joan Kaiser and Dianne Reed and 1 son-in-law, Robert.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Friday March 30, 2012 in the Lehr Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastors Dennis Kaiser, and Bob Forbes officiating.
Visitation - 4-8 at the Dakotah Room at the Wishek Home for the Aged.
Prayer Service - 7:00 PM Thursday in the Dakotah Room at the Wishek Home for the Aged.

Interment will be made in the Miller Cemetery, SW of Streeter, ND.
Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Wishek, ND
