Mable Mayer, 87, Gackle, ND, died Monday morning April 27, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes, ND.

Mable Ruff was born January 30, 1928 in Fredonia, ND, the daughter of Reinhold R. Ruff and Katherina (Gall) Ruff. She received her education at the Logan County School and graduated from Gackle high school in 1947. She taught at Logan County School from 1947 to 1950.

She and Edwin Mayer were married June 5, 1949 at Gackle, ND. They made their home on a farm 6 miles west of Gackle from 1949 until 1987 when they moved into Gackle. After the death of her husband in 2000 she continued to live in Gackle. In 2014 she entered the Good Samaritan Society and has resided there since.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Gackle.

She enjoyed reading and puzzle books; and she loved her cats. She partnered with her husband farming for 38 years, raising beef cattle and small grains.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Dennis (Brenda) Mayer, Gackle, ND; Daniel (Nicole) Mayer, Albert Lea, MN; Virginia (Gary) Kleingartner, Detroit Lakes, MN; Susan Stromberg, Indianapolis, IN; Julie (Randy) Entzminger, Oakes, ND; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 great grandson, 1 son-in-law, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Service - 2:00 PM Friday May 1, 2015 in the First Congregational UCC Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Rick Steele, officiating

Interment - Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, ND

Prayer Service - 7:00 PM Thursday @ the church in Gackle, ND

Visitation - 9 AM - 6 PM Thursday @ the Haut Funeral Chapel in Gackle, ND
