Lydia Schmidt, 90, Jamestown, ND died Thursday evening May 25, 2006 in the Wishek Home for the Aged.
Lydia Oster was born April 8, 1916 at Tappen, North Dakota the daughter of Christian Oster and Katherine (Wanner) Oster. She received her elementary education in Martin School at Tappen, ND and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.
She and Ephraim Schmidt were married September 19, 1940 at Steele, ND.
They made their home on a farm near Streeter until 1943 when they moved to a farm 13 miles North of Medina, ND. In 1944 they moved to Robinson where they continued to farm until 1949 when they move to Tappen, ND where she worked for the Hoffer Café. In 1959 they moved to Jamestown where she was employed at the Chinese Restaurant and Lils Pizza Place. Following their retirement they continued to reside in Jamestown. Ephraim passed away December 5, 1990.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Tappen, ND.
Surviving are her daughter Judy Koob, Hampton, VA, one brother and sister-in-law John and Irene Oster, of Salem Oregon; one sisters and one brother-in-law, Emma and Karl Berg, Bismarck, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one child at birth, 3 brothers, and 1 sisters.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday June 1, 2006 in the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND, with Rev. Raymond Rueb, officiating. Interment will be made in the Zion Reformed Cemetery, West of Streeter, ND. Visitation - 9-5 Tuesday and 9-9 Wednesday at the Funeral Home
