Lois Church

Lois Church, 82, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday morning March 28, 2023 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

Lois Trenary was born May 13, 1940 on the family farm near Berlin, ND the daughter of Richard and Rosella (Hansen) Trenary. She attended the local elementary school and later moved to Marshall, MN where she graduated from Marshall High School in 1959. After graduation she moved to Portland OR where she worked as a nanny; while in Portland she gave birth to a beautiful daughter and placed her with a loving family.

She and Norman Church were married and made their home Missouri, Germany and California before settling in Marion, ND. They later divorced and she moved to Nortonville. Lois managed cafes in Marion and Jud and also took care of school lunches in Jud. In 1988 she worked at the ND State Hospital until retiring. She also worked as a care giver for many years and also an Avon sales person for almost 40 years.

Lois was a member of the Nortonville Methodist Church and the Bible Study at the Light House in Edgeley.  Lois was famous for her homemade donuts.  She enjoyed painting and doing puzzles with her sisters and Ben in Langdon and playing her computer games.  She also liked knitting, making homemade cards to send to everyone for their birthday or special occasions.  Lois had a green thumb and had a house full of plants; if you knew her you probably received a Madagascar plant.

Lois is survived by 3 daughters, Joanie Cunningham, Portland, OR; Stacy (Kasandra) Church, Bethel, MN and Nickki Church, Bismarck, ND; 5grandchildren, Angela, Annalisa, Alexys, Xavier, and Evalee; 3 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; 2 brothers and 7 sisters, Aris Miears, Bemidji, MN; Mary (Ken) Clark, Midwest City, OK; Charlie (Darlene) Trenary, Castlewood, SD; Stan Trenary, Fessenden, ND; Linda Schuler, Bismarck, ND; Audrey (Wayne) Mikkelson, Langdon, ND; Kim Raper, McAlester, OK; Marty Black, Bismarck, ND; and Rosalie Hankel, Brandon SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Crystal; 1 brother, James; and 1 sister, Leora.
