Lloyd Flaig, 93, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Alfred, died Thursday August 12, 2010 at his home in Jamestown, ND.
Lloyd Flaig was born May 6, 1917 at Alfred, ND, the son of John Flaig and Elsie (Holweg) Flaig. He received his education at the local rural school and Jamestown High School. He attended the C.C.C. for 2
years.
He entered the US Army in Bismarck, ND April 14, 1942 and served in the European and African Theater during World War II and was honorably discharged at Camp Shelby MS November 21, 1945 with the rank of PVT.
He and Ida Bossert were married November 1, 1946 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home on a farm 7 miles north of Jud where they farmed. In 1948 they moved to a farm NW of Gackle where they farmed until 1970. They moved back to a farm north of Jud where they lived until August of 2009 when they moved into Jamestown.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, Jamestown, ND; 3 sons, Shelby (Marilyn) Flaig, Bismarck, ND; John (Darlene) Flaig, Millarton, ND; Joe (Rita) Flaig, Auburn, WA; 4 daughters, Gail Iszler, Jamestown, ND; Marilyn Nitschke, Jamestown, ND; Trudie (Mark) Buchholtz, Auburn, WA; Leora (Paul) Brady, Jud, ND; 1 foster daughter, Gwen Gienger, Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren, Jason Iszler; Stephanie Iszler; Brian Buchholtz; Michael Buchholtz; Amy Flaig; Lisa Flaig; Matt Flaig; Angela Buchholtz; Kassie Flaig; David Flaig; Alicia Brady; Alonna Brady; Ryan Brady; 14 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Harry (Joanne) Flaig, Sparks, NV; Norman Flaig, Jamestown, ND; 2 sisters, Jane (Wilfred) Henke, Jamestown, ND; Deloris (Jerry) Walsh, Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Velma, Irene and 1 son-in-law, Norman Nitschke.
