Lester R. Hehr

Lester Raymond Hehr, 78, Fredonia, ND died Monday Morning November 22, 2010 at his home in Fredonia, ND.

Lester Hehr was born December 7, 1931 at Fredonia, ND, the son of Emil Hehr and Emma (Buerkle) Hehr. He received his elementary education at the local school and worked on his parent's farm and grew to manhood in the vicinity.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia.

He entered the United States Army March 11, 1953 and served in Germany and was honorably discharged March 3, 1955 at Ft. Sheridan in IL with the rank of CPL.

After the service, he worked at Ford Garage in Kulm, later worked for a Tjernlund Plumbing and Excavating.

He and Arlene Steinmetz were married August 26, 1962 at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia, ND. They made their home in Fredonia. In 1962 they bought the Edward Tiede farm and lived there, raising beef cattle and working the dairy by selling whole milk and producing grain, and have continued to reside there.

He was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran church in Fredonia. He was on the board of directors of the Fredonia Co-op Oil Company for 36 years. He was also a member of the America Legion Post 260.

He enjoyed working in his shop and fixing anything and everything and especially things that other people couldn't fix. He enjoyed ice-fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Arlene, Fredonia, ND; 4 sons, Lauren (Robin) Hehr, Fredonia, ND; Randall Hehr, Fredonia, ND; Keith (Mary) Hehr, Montpelier, ND; Warren (Wanda) Hehr, Fredonia, ND; 1 daughter, Lisa Case, Fredonia, ND; 15 grandchildren; 5 Great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Lucille Kennedy, Jamestown, ND; EuElla Wolf Fredonia, ND; Larry (Maureen) Hehr, Fredonia, ND; Donald Hehr, Miramar, FL; Diane Hehr, Monticello, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, Jeremy Baker and 4 brothers, LeRoy, Alvin, Dillard and Thilmer.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday November 27, 2010 at the Martin Luther Lutheran church with Rev. Adam Roberts, officiating.

The interment will be at the Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery in Fredonia, ND.

Prayer service: 7:30 PM Friday at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Gackle, ND.

Visitation: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Friday @ the funeral home in Gackle
