Leota Frieda Stading, 88, Streeter, ND passed away on Friday morning October 3, 2014.

Leota was born May 28, 1926 near Ashley, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Karolina (Heupel) Weisser. She was the 10th born with 7 brothers and 7 sisters and grew up on a farm outside of Ashley. Leota attended rural school through the 8th grade and then graduated from Ashley High School in 1943. Growing up during World War II she helped with the farm chores when her brothers served in the armed forces.

Leota married Reuben Stading on September 9, 1945 at Ashley Baptist Church. She was a loyal and supportive spouse as their life together took them to several locations. Right after they married, they traveled to Rochester, NY where Reuben attended seminary. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD because the seminary was relocated there. For the next 35 years, Leota and Reuben served God in several churches including Drake (Rosenfeld), ND; Creston, NE; Washburn, ND; Gackle, ND; Shakopee, MN; and, McLaughlin, SD. When Reuben died of Hodgkin's in 1982, Leota moved back to Shakopee. There, she took up several activities in Shakopee and enjoyed child care and being a nanny as well as teaching piano lessons. From there she moved to Bismarck and most recently lived with her daughter Dorothy's family in Streeter.

Leota is survived by 2 sons, Glenn (Pam), Minneapolis, MN and Mark (Denise), Los Angeles, CA and 1 daughter, Dorothy (Dan), Streeter, ND and 5 sisters, Lorraine (Ashley, ND), Eleanora (Bismarck, ND), Anna (Bismarck, ND), Mavis (Fargo, ND) and Lillian (Bismarck, ND) and 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jason, Samuel, Jordan, Nathan, Gabrielle and Ethan and 5 great grandchildren, Jackson, Ian, Hadley, Adrienne and Maximus.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and 7 brothers (Fred, Richard, Urban, Oswald, Walter, Roland, Wilbur) and 2 sisters (Hertha and Olga).

Funeral Service - 10:30 Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Wishek.

Interment - Wishek Cemetery, Wishek, ND

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 on Monday, October 6th at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown
