Leah Jerke, 92, Jud, ND died Monday evening September 19, 2011 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND.
Leah Lang was born May 10, 1918 at Gackle, ND, the daughter of Gottleib Lang and Christine (Martel) Lang. She received her education at the Gackle Pubic Schools and graduated from Gackle High School in 1936. She went on to College and received her teaching degree at Ellendale Normal and was a Country School teacher and Special Ed teacher in Gackle and Lehr, from 1938 until her retirement in 1978.
She and John were married on June 20, 1941 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home NE of Gackle where they farmed. She and John enjoyed traveling to Mesa, AZ for the winters and continued to reside NE of Gackle. In 2007 she entered the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City and has continued to reside there.
She was a member of the UCC Congregational Church in Gackle, ND.
She is survived by 1 sister, Esther Ovick, Osceolo, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday September 25, 2011 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, with Rev. Tim Blackman, officiating.
The interment will be at the Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND.
Arrangements are with the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.
