Larry Henke

Larry Henke, 50, Montpelier, ND died Saturday morning January 21, 2006 at his home in Montpelier, ND.

Larry was born November 14, 1955 at Jamestown, ND, the son of Arthur Henke and Esther (Gumke) Henke. He attended school in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in in 1974.

He entered the United States Navy June 18, 1974 at Chicago, IL. He spent 6 years at San Diego, CA with a Helicopter Squadron, transferred to the USS Nimitz for 4 years and spent 2 years stationed in Cuba, before being discharged May 13, 1986 at Norfolk, VA with the rank of E-5.

He returned to Jamestown where he attended Jamestown College from 1987 - 1990 where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management Information Science and a Business Administration Degree in Accounting.

He and Valerie Wenzel were married August 7, 1992 at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home in Jamestown where he worked at AgriCover until 1994 when they moved to Bismarck where he worked at the ND Game & Fish Department until retiring in 2000 due to health reasons. They moved to Montpelier, ND where they have continued to reside.

He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, and a member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club and also a member of ABATE of ND.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie, Montpelier, ND, 2 step sons, Bradley Docktor, Jamestown, ND, Nickolas (Stacey) Docktor, Ypsilanti, ND, 1 step grandson, Matthew Dockter, his father, Arthur Henke, Jamestown, ND, and 4 sisters, Annetta (Larry) Knecht, Gackle, ND, Patricia (Erwin) Fischer, Kathleen (Gary) Suko, and Lori (Jodi) Woehl, all of Jamestown, ND.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday January 25, 2006 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND, with Rev. Tom Eckstein, officiating.

The interment will be made in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery at Mandan, ND.

Prayer Service - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday @ the funeral home
