Kyle Newman, 45, Jamestown, ND died Thursday, September 28, 2023 at his home in Jamestown.
Kyle James Newman was born in Jamestown, ND on February 16th, 1978 to Russell and Billie (BJ) Newman. He was the oldest of seven siblings; Matt, Rachel, Ty, Jake, Boomer and Amy. He attended Horace Elementary and later moved to Fargo, graduating from Fargo South High School in 1996.
A driven student and athlete, Kyle excelled in all he did. He shared in his father's passion for golf. He spent many days of his youth on the course with his dad and friends. He later went on to Concordia College, where he majored in accounting and graduated in 2000. Kyle married the love of his life, Tara, on May 8th of 2004 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, ND. He truly adored her. Kyle and Tara were blessed with eight children; Bernadette, Thomas, Amelia, James, Peter, Clare, Mary and Edward. He was a devout Catholic and father, leading and teaching his family in faith. He was very passionate professionally, but was most happy when cheering on or coaching the many school athletic events that his children, nieces and nephews were competing in. He was his children's #1 fan. You would often hear Kyle say, "Go all in on your kids. Protect them, always have their backs." Kyle was extremely proud of his entire family and said so often.
Kyle was instrumental in starting The Newman Midwinter Challenge Basketball Tournament held at the Harold Newman Arena. He also coached youth basketball and baseball. Kyle was a passionate coach, volunteer and board member for the Jamestown Area Youth Baseball Association (Jaybal). Can I get a Blue Jay?! His goal was to turn Jamestown into the "mecca" of youth baseball in North Dakota. Kyle also served on the fundraising committee for the McElroy Park Field Renovation Project. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a pro-life advocate and started an Adoration Chapel to pray for the unborn. Kyle, alongside his siblings, helped create the Russ Newman Memorial Youth Fund, a fund that was made in honor of his late father to help youth compete in sports and in life.
Kyle is survived by his wife Tara and children, mother Billie, brothers Matt (Amber), Ty (Sacha), Jake, Russell II (Laura) and sisters Rachel (Chris) Ebeling and Amy Clark. In-laws Thomas and Bevery Kelsch, Tracy (Matt) Tharaldson, Talea (Josh) Weibye, Trenton, Tabatha (fiance Dan) and Tate Kelsch, 22 nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kyle was an adored Godfather to his nieces and nephews; Ellie, Lucy, Blaise, Violet and Colton. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Newman, grandparents Harold and Mary Newman and James and Billie McCalmont.
Kyle will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. As well as a hardworking, hilarious, kindhearted and God-loving man.
