Kurt Mayher, proud grandpa, loving husband, wonderful father, son, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the age of 62 after a 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Kurt was born on September 5, 1962, in Omaha, NE to Beverly (Conger) and Richard Mayher. He grew up in Omaha and graduated from Burke High School in 1981. He went on to play college baseball at Iowa Western and Bellevue University.
Kurt married Christina Turner and together they had two boys, Ben and Brett. In 2006, he met the love of his life, Lynda Moldenhauer. On May 31, 2014, they were united in marriage and created the Moldy-Mayher dysfunctional family. Kurt was so proud of his six children, but he really enjoyed the title of Papa Kurt. His 13 grandchildren were his world.
Kurt wanted to live in the middle of nowhere, so he moved to North Dakota. He had a deep passion for hunting and fishing, often finding peace and joy spending time outdoors with family and friends. He was all about creating memories. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. His kindness, strength and humbleness touched not only his family but all who knew him. His big bear hugs and sense of humor would make your worst day seem brighter.
Kurt leaves behind his wife, Lynda; six children, Ben (Jessie) Mayher, Brett (Stephanie) Mayher, Kellie (Justin) Reinhart, Jamison (Annabelle) Moldenhauer, Madison (Nic) Moser and Jaycee (Jordan) Zuraff; 13 grandkids, Grace, Wyatt, Jaxon, Tucker, Harper, Declan, Raelynn, Stetson, Grayson, Reese, Cohen, Hudson and Kinsley; mother, Beverly Mayher; brother, Scott (June) Mayher; sister, Tammie (Bert) Aagesen; nieces, Samantha Mackling and Kendall (Ian) Olson; nephews Taylor Mayher and Elliott Mackling; great-nieces Teagan and Blakely Olson, and his father-in-law Art Remmich.
He is proceeded in death by his father, Richard Mayher; grandparents, and mother-in-law Mary Ann Remmich.
Although he may be gone from this world, he lives on through the people he touched. We will carry his memory with us, and it brings comfort to know that so much of him is alive in his family and friends.
