Katherina Martell

Katherina Martell, 91, Wishek, ND, died Thursday morning July 21, 2005 at the Wishek Home for the Aged.

Katherina Reich was born November 7, 1913 at Kassel, South Russia, the daughter of Adam Reich and Katherina (Weber) Reich. In 1914 she came with her parents to the United States and they settled on a farm 13 miles West of Wishek, ND. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and August Martell were married March 4, 1940 at Danzig, ND. They made their home in Wishek until 1942 when they moved to a farm 4 miles North of Wishek. In 1954 they moved to a farm near Streeter, ND and in 1957 moved to Lehr. In 1979 following the death of her husband she entered the Home for the Aged where she has continued to reside.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lehr, ND.

Surviving are her son Allen Martell, Eldridge, ND, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers Adam Reich, Aberdeen, SD, Edward Reich, Bismarck, ND, 5 sisters, Lydia (Reinhardt) Werre, Wishek, ND, Marie Martell, Wishek, ND, Erna (Melvin) Schwind, Jamestown, ND, Bertha (Waltmer) Schwind, Wishek, ND and Mrs. Alvina Brandner, Bismarck, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday July 23, 2005 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Lehr, North Dakota with Rev. Lyle Klemz, pastor officiating.

Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND

Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Wishek, ND.
