Joyce Heitmann, 74, Jamestown, ND died Sunday morning August 10, 2008 at the Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Joyce Anderson was born November 5, 1933 at Clifford, ND, the daughter of Hjelmer Anderson and Hazel (Solberg) Anderson. At the age of 13, she went to live with Bryce Martin and Ethelyn (Olson) Martin on a farm near Mayville, ND. She received her education at the Mayville school and graduated from Lutheran Brethren School in Fergus Falls in 1953. She attended St. Andres Hospital School of Nursing in Bottineau, ND and graduated in 1957. She worked at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND after college as a surgical nurse until 1961. She received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at Jamestown College in 1969, her Masters Degree in Social Work from NDSU and Masters Degree in Nursing at St. Mary's School of Nursing.

She and Mylo "Bud" Kost were married February 9, 1958 at Mayville, ND. They lived in Martin and Harvey until Bud's death March 23, 1960.

She and John Heitmann were married July 7, 1961. They made their home in Fesseden, ND until they moved to Jamestown, ND in 1965, where she worked at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown for 35 year until her retirement in 1999. After the death of her husband John, July 14, 2000, she continued to reside in Jamestown.

She enjoyed camping, fishing gardening, reading and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Krissi (Robert) Wenzel, Buchanan, ND; Kory Anderson, Jamestown, ND; Keile Kost, Eldridge, ND; Tod Heitmann, Jamestown, ND; 8 grandchildren, Brittney, Savannah, Morgan Wenzel, Lynzy, Ebaney Anderson, Joshua Kurtz, John, Robert Earnest, 4 great grandchildren, Macce Jo and Tamara Moser, Lexys Jo Griffith, Zane Wenzel; 4 brothers, Ed Martin, Miles City, MT; John (Shirley) Martin, Denver, CO; Rob (Sandy ) Martin, Cedar Lake, MT; Jack (Kathy) Stronstod Mahnomen, MN; 3 sisters, JoAnn, Todisco Denver CO; Paula Klockstad Westhope, ND and Paulette Lindemoen, Westhope, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, adoptive parents, her husbands and 1 brother, Mark.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday August 14, 2008 at the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.

The interment will be at the Highland Home Cemetery at Jamestown, ND.

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday @ the funeral home

Prayer Service - 7:30 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home
