Joell Kenneth Hatch Sr., 65, Jamestown, ND succumbed to a short courageous battle with cancer due to Agent Orange on April 26, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Joell was born March 30, 1949 at Jamestown, ND, the son of Kenneth and Vivian (Elton) Hatch. He attended school at Carrington and grew to manhood in the vicinity.
He entered the United States Navy April 15, 1968 and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged October 5, 1971 with the rank of Seaman.
Joell attended Universal Heavy Construction Schools Inc in Florida. Upon his completion of school he returned to the Jamestown area where he worked for Western Gear (UTC), later working for the ND Dept. of Transportation from 1976 -1990. After taking some time off, he worked for Lindberg Brothers Inc for 17 years until retiring in the spring of 2013.
Joell was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always looked forward to the hunting season not only for hunting but for the bonding time he would get to spend with his sons, sons-in-law and grandchildren. There were many things that Joell was proud of, such as the work he had done, the things he had built and the accomplishments he had made but none of that compared to how proud he was and how much he loved his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He enjoyed nothing more in life then visiting and spending time with them.
Joell is survived by his children, CasSandra (Harold) Klug, Wahpeton, ND; Heather (Dalon) Dehne, Cleveland, ND; Joell Jr. (Danielle) Hatch, Buchanan, ND; and Justin Hatch (Robin Carlson), Jamestown, ND; 8 grandchildren, Austin Klug, Alex Klug, Brogan Dehne, Cohl Hatch, Brenna Hatch, Kennadie Hatch, Carson Hatch and Tyra Kamoni-Hatch; 5 sisters, Jorene (Gil) Temme, Jerilyn Hagen, Denise Hatch, Roxanne Bliebum, Nadine Hatch, and 3 brothers, Dennis Hatch, Ranell (Bonnie) Hatch and Corey Hatch.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 nephew.
