Jacob Schopp, 96, Jamestown, ND died Sunday September 11, 2011 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

Jacob Schopp was born March 16, 1915 at Lehr, ND, the son of Jacob Schopp and Christina (Weisenburger) Schopp. He received his elementary education at the local school and worked on the family farm.

He and Clara Kessler were married September 30, 1937 at Ashley, ND. They made their home on a farm 3 ½ Miles NW of Lehr where they farmed until their retirement in 1988 and moved to Jamestown, ND. Following the death of his wife, September 5, 1991, he continued to reside in Jamestown. In 2010 he entered the Ave Maria Village.

He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lehr. He served on the board and was Church Treasurer. He was a member of the Gideons and served on the Logan County Welfare Board.

He is survived by 2 sons, Myron (Arlene) Schopp, Ipswich, SD; Stanley (Karin) Schopp, Carson City, NV; 1 daughter, Renee (Tim) Knoll, Belen, NM; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 1 brother, Levi Schopp, Jamestown, ND; and a special friend, Vi Tischer, Jamestown, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday September 16, 2011 at the Temple Baptist Church (1200 12th Ave NE, next to Jamestown High School) in Jamestown, ND with Dr. Randy Jaspers, pastor officiating.

The interment will be at the Lehr Cemetery in Lehr, ND

Visitation: 5-7 Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM Thursday at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.
