Hulda Schmierer

Hulda Schmierer, 94, Jamestown, ND died September 11, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

Hulda Sommerfeld was born May 13, 1912, on the family farm four miles north of Gackle, the daughter of Gottfried and Kathrine (Rath) Sommerfeld. She received her education in a rural school in Stutsman County and grew into womanhood and helped on the family farm.

On February 28, 1935, she married Fred Schmierer. They moved to a farm North East of Gackle. In the fall of 1944 they moved to a farm four miles north of Gackle. They retired from farming in 1971 and moved to Gackle, ND, and in 1985 they moved to Jamestown, ND.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, Jamestown ND, daughter Janice (Clyde) Landry of Alta Loma, CA; Three grandchildren, Jody Landry McAtee, John Landry, and Joanna Landry, two great grandsons all living in CA; a half sister Eldina Hehn, Jamestown, ND; and a special nephew, Dale Harr and his wife Cora, Jamestown, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, two sisters, two half sisters, one step sister, one brother and two step brothers.

Funeral services will be on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, with Pastor Dave Stuart officiating.

Burial will be at the Gackle Cemetery in Gackle.
