Hazel Swan, 77, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday morning November 14, 2012 at the Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown, ND.

Hazel E. Friesdtad was born January 21, 1935 on a farm in Barnes County in ND, the daughter of Gilbert Friestad and Olga (Hagen) Friestad. She attended Noltimer School; later moving to Valley City and graduating from Valley City High School in 1953. She worked part time at North American Fairmont Foods, as the bookkeeper, and later full time for some years.

She and James D. Brostrom were married in 1954 at Valley City. After the death of her husband, in 1963, she lived in Valley City for another year before moving to Minneapolis, MN where she was a bookkeeper.

She and Lowell H. Swan were married in 1967. They made their home in Wheaton, IL. She was employed with High Lake Poultry as a Controller. They moved to Jamestown, ND in 1975. They opened a NAPA Auto Parts store owned and operated this for 11 years. Later they moved to Florida for 3 years to be closer to family. In 2002 they fully retired and moved back to Jamestown.

After the death of her husband in 2005, she continued to reside in Jamestown, until moving to Valley City. In 2011 she entered Eventide at Hi-Acres.

She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran church in Jamestown.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, Bingo and sewing.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Darrel (Barb) Brostrom, Orlando, FL; John Swan, Missoula, MT; 1 grandchild, Andrew Brostrom, Orlando, FL; 3 sisters, Frances (Andy) Aune, AZ; Marit Zaun and Carrie Breske, all of Valley City, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; 1 son Dennis and 1 brother and 1 sister.

Services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND, Friday, November, 23rd at 2 p.m. and visitation from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

The interment will be at the Memory Gardens in Valley City, ND.
