Harold Mittleider, 87, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday March 10, 2015, surrounded by his family, at his home in Jamestown, ND.
Harold Mittleider was born February 8, 1928 at Tappen, ND, the son of John Mittleider Sr. and Fredricka (Martin) Mittleider. He received his elementary education at the Tappen Farm School and grew to manhood in the vicinity.
He and Dorothy Harr were married December 11, 1953 at Tappen. They made their home on a farm near Tappen until 1955 when the moved to a farm near Eldridge, ND for a year. They returned to the Tappen area where they farmed until 1969. They then moved to a farm near Crystal Springs, ND until 1974 when they moved to Jamestown, ND where he worked as a checker in the Road Department.
Following their retirement they have continued to reside in Jamestown. Dorothy passed away October 3, 2014.
He was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown. He also was a board member in Tappen for a number of years. Harold enjoyed farming, haying and tinkering with his tractors. Harold was a farmer through and through.
He is survived by 3 sons, Bruce (Laura) Mittleider, Menahga, MN; Eugene (Barb) Mittleider; Jamestown, ND; Kelly Mittleider; Jamestown, ND; 1 daughter, Donna (Greg) Earnest, Jamestown, ND; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Benjamin Mittleider, Tappen, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy; 4 brothers, Gideon; Leonard; Bernhard and John, 1 sister Anna.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Saturday March 14, 2015 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Arlyn Coalter, officiating.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND
Visitation: 9-8 Friday, Family will call on friends from 6-8 on Friday at the funeral home.
