Harlin Wetzel, 78, Vergas, Minnesota died Sunday November 7, 2010 at his lake home near Vergas.

Harlin was born December 9, 1931 near Wishek, North Dakota the son of Henry Wetzel and Emilia (Bader) Wetzel. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in Wishek, ND and Lemars, Iowa.

He and Dorothy Freier were married August 28, 1960 in Streeter, ND. They farmed near Wishek until 1976 when they moved to Hunter, ND. They retired in 1999. They then moved to their retirement home on Long Lake near Vergas, MN.

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. He and Dorothy recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Harlin loved his five grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, a dear friend to many and a devout Christian who loved life and the Lord.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; 3 daughters; Carla (Allan) Funk, Eagan, MN; Darcy Wetzel, Eagan, MN; Vickie (Greg) Doeden, Moorhead, MN; 1 son, Wylie (Mindy) Wetzel, Woodbury, MN; 4 granddaughters, Emily, Olivia, Margaret and Katherine, 1 grandson Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his only brother Arnold and only sister Luella Rudolf.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Friday November 12, 2010 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN with Rev. Conrad Vine, pastor officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Wishek City Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.
