Gideon C. Schauer

Gideon C. Schauer, 86, Wishek, ND died Sunday evening November 18, 2007 in the Wishek Home for the Aged in Wishek, ND.

Gideon Schauer was born May 4, 1921 at Wishek, ND the son of John Schauer and Christine (Kessel) Schauer. He received his elementary education in the local school and graduated from the Wishek High School. He attended 1 year of College at Yankton Theological Seminary

He and Ruth Heiser were married January 12, 1943 in Wishek, ND.
They made their home on a farm SW of Wishek where they owned and operated a grain and dairy operation. In 1954 the dairy operation became a Grade A dairy until 1960. In 1957 Gideon went into the Insurance business which he operated until his health didn't allow him. He entered the Wishek Home for the Aged in 2006 an the Special Care Unit in March of 2007.

Over the years the family had many other business interests. In 1964 the family started making "Orman Lures". In 1966 Gideon went into a real estate business. In 1969 he built the first 6 plex in Wishek. In 1971 he built four 4 plexes known as Hill Top Housing. In 1972 he built and operated the business known as Boasted Chicken until 1975.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wishek, ND having been very active in attending annual meetings.

Surviving are his wife Ruth, Wishek, ND, his children, Roger (Janet) Schauer, Grand Forks, ND, Donald (Jacqueline) Schauer, Foley, AL, Tom (Maureen) Schauer, Sparta, WI, Joel Schauer, Lilburn,Georgia,
Rose (Jon) Allen, Grand Forks, ND, 10 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 brother and sister, Ervin Schauer, Jamestown, ND, and Mrs. Esther Knoll of Wishek, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Friday November 23, 2007 in the United Church of Christ in Wishek, ND with Rev. Tammy Toepke-Floyd, officiating.

Interment will be made in the Wishek City Cemetery, Wishek, ND
