George Unverferth

George Unverferth, 78, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday morning March 22, 2011 at his home in Jamestown, ND, under the care of hospice, after a short battle with cancer.

George was born September 26, 1932 at Hope, ND, the son of George Unverferth, Sr., and Mae (Roy) Unverferth. He received his education in the Hope Public School.

He entered the US Air Force November 30, 1951 at Fargo, ND. He served in the Korean Conflict. He was discharged November 29, 1955 at Hamilton AFB, South of Novato, CA with the rank of A1C

Following his discharge he worked for Douglas Aircraft in California until 1958. He returned to Hope, ND where he did various jobs until 1964 when he moved to Jamestown and started working for the Wilbert Vault Plant, where he was employed for 32 years retiring in June of 1996.

He and Shirley (Schuldheisz) Geiszler were married December 31, 1969 at Jamestown, ND. From 1996 to 2002 he worked at the Frontier Fort. He has continued to reside in Jamestown.

He is a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. He enjoyed camping and attending his grandchildren's activities.

Surviving are his wife Shirley, Jamestown, ND; 2 daughters, Kim (Robert) Job, Jamestown, ND; Jodi (Darin) Dockter, Medina, ND; 6 grandchildren, Rebecca Job, Minnetonka, MN; Lindsey Job, Moorhead, MN; Dylan, Dacotah, Daven, McKenzy Dockter, all of Medina, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday March 26, 2010 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND, with Rev. Ruth Kaden, pastor officiating.

The interment will be made in the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home

Visitation - 9:00AM - 5:00 PM Thursday & 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Friday
