George Nitschke

George Nitschke, 94, Jud, ND died Saturday morning March 14, 2009 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

George was born May 17, 1914 on the family farm home West of Jud, ND, the son of Christof Nitschke and Wilhelmina (Nitschke) Nitschke. He attended the local rural school in Raney Township where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity. He farmed with his family until 1938 when his parents moved to Jud. George and his brothers Edward and Christof, and also their sister Johannah took over the farm which had been in the family since 1907. In October of 2001 he moved to Gackle Care Center and in 2006 he moved to Jamestown and entered the Ave Maria Village.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jud, church treasurer, member of the Raney Township Board, a board member of the Jud Enterprise and Jud Grocery Store.

He is survived by 4 nieces and 1 nephew, Lucille (Hugh) Butrick, Albuquerque, NM; Marjorie (Ray) Busch, Kulm, ND; Marian Nitschke, Jamestown, ND; Harry (Burnette) Schlenker, Jud, ND; and Norma Jean (Jim) Pruitt, Jasper, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters

The funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday March 19, 2009 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Tim Blackman, officiating.

The interment will be made in the United Church of Christ Cemetery at Jud, ND in the spring
