Gary Milbrath

C. Gary Milbrath, 74, died unexpectedly on December 10, 2019. 

Gary was born in Minot, ND on March 28, 1945 to George and Cecilia (Wetzel) Milbrath.  Gary was an only child, dearly loved by his folks.  Gary was raised in Parshall, ND and graduated from Parshall High School.

Gary continued his education at the Wahpeton State School of Science becoming an architectural draftsman.  While in college he met Sherri McAllister. The happy couple were married August 6, 1966 and then moved to Minot to start their careers.  Gary's career really took off when he accepted a position in Dickinson, ND, with the Carlson Company as a draftsman.  It was always fun to drive around Dickinson and hear Gary say, "I drew the plans for that building."  Soon after, Gary and Sherri started their family.  Together they had three daughters.

Gary made several career changes.  Construction was always a part of his life through jobs and hobbies.  He was a talented woodworker and many family members, neighbors, friends, churches and various houses around Jamestown can boast of his craftmanship.  He also owned his own tool truck and spent the 80's and 90's traveling ND's hiways and biways supplying ranchers and farmers with tools and accessories for their farming operations. His last career move included working for the Maranatha Company building churches and remodeling homes.

Gary enjoyed a variety of outdoor sports.  He liked to go shooting with friends.  In earlier years Gary was an avid hunter with both guns and bows.  He especially liked hunting with his cousin, Kenny.  Camping and fishing were adventures enjoyed by the whole family.  Many fun memories were made by all.

Those grateful to have shared in Gary's life are beloved wife Sherri, Jamestown; brother-in-law John (Valentine) McAllister, Sun City, AZ; daughters Mindee (Phil) Wolverton, Bismarck, ND; Darcee (Craig) Waller, Hutchinson, MN; Tamee (Brian) Franck, Aitkin, MN; seventeen grandchildren Sarah, Ceceilia (Fiance-Jacob Babcock), Parker (Sarah), Zerian (Fiancee-Delaney Bachman), Tiffany, Zavior, John, Cassandra, Zeanna, Zakara, Samuel, Zakita, Zakala, Cooper, Zohrak, ZsaEve, ZeClea; and his niece and nephews.  Although Gary was an only child, his cousin Kenny was like a brother to him.  His aunts, uncles and cousins were always very cherished.  Gary's beloved little dog Laycee is already missing her master.

Gary was preceeded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Augusta Milbrath, John and Emma Wetzel; his parents George and Cecilia Milbrath, and other aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service for Gary will be held Monday, December 16 at 1:00 pm Temple Baptist Church.
