Frances N. Gomke, 72, West Fargo, ND formerly of Jamestown died Monday morning August 25, 2008 at the Innovis Health Care in Fargo, ND.
Frances Veil was born October 30, 1935 Southwest of Gackle, ND in Logan County, the daughter of Adam Veil and Helen (Schopp) Veil. She received her elementary education in Gackle until 1949 when her family moved to Jamestown. She finished her education in Jamestown graduating from the Jamestown High School. She then worked part-time at the Jamestown Hospital.
She and Jack Gomke were married January 29, 1954 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home on the Gomke family farm and in November of 1954 they moved into Jamestown and she continued to work at the Jamestown Hospital. In 1971 she started working a Western Gear until 1980. Following the death of her husband on January 9, 1989 she continued to reside in Jamestown and did cleaning work for people and Cab driving. She moved to the Fargo area in 1998 where she did volunteer work as a Senior Companion and with the Hospital Auxiliary.
She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, Jamestown area Singles and Eagles Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Marsha (Robert) Rochow, Minneapolis, MN, Maureen (Ken) Wade, Jamestown, ND, Melinda (Greg) Wald, Fargo, ND, Gardell (Sandy) Gomke, Cook, MN, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother Elmer.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday August 30, 2008 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Rich Fitzer, pastor officiating.
Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND
