Eugene "Gene" Freier

Eugene (Gene) Freier, 78, Medina, ND died Sunday afternoon November 7, 2010 at MedCenter One Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Eugene was born August 23, 1932 south of Streeter, ND, the son of Jacob Freier and Tillie (Wentz) Freier. He attended the Grenz Farm school for 8 years and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm. He moved to Bismarck, ND in 1953 and worked at refinery and power plant at Mandan.

He and Joyce Nienow were married February 14, 1957 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND. They lived with his folks until April of 1957 when they moved to a farm Southeast of Streeter until 1964 when they purchased the Henry and Amelia Simmon's farm 12 miles SW of Medina, ND.

He attended the united Methodist Church in Medina, ND. He served on the Streeter Fire Dept and Newbury Township board.

He enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing Pinochle and attending truck and tractor pulls. His main joy was his family and farming.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, Medina, ND; 3 children, Jackie (Dennis) Slaughter, Medina, ND; Greg (Karla) Freier, Medina, ND; Tammy (Dean) Moser, Medina, ND; 7 grandchildren, Erin (Chris) Stoken; Andy Slaughter; Kate Slaughter; Alexis Freier; Dustin Moser; Deven (Natasha) Moser; Donavan Moser; 2 great grandchildren, Jazlyn and Kolby Stoken; 4 Brothers, Lawrence (Coreen) Freier, Bismarck, ND; Lonnie (Sandy) Freier, Glyndon, MN; Terry (Sara) Freier, Fargo, ND; Tom (Melinda) Freier, Fargo, ND; 3 sisters, Francis (Wallace) Perman, Bismarck, ND; Esther Perman, Streeter, ND and Betty Freier, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 brother-in-law.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 PM Thursday November 11, 2010 in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Medina, ND, with Rev. Darwin Kopfmann, pastor officiating.

Interment will be made Medina Cemetery in Medina, ND.

Prayer Service - 8:00 PM Wednesday November 10, 2010 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation - 9 - 9 Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
