Esther Ketterling, 81, Jamestown, ND died early Friday morning May 13, 2016 in Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Esther L. Payton was born June 30, 1934 at Oakes, North Dakota, the daughter of Alice Obenchain and Walter Hoffman. She received her education in Divide #3 rural school in Dickey County.

She and Albert Ketterling were married September 21, 1950 at Ellendale, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where she worked at the Jamestown Hospital for 39 years. She also worked at the Jamestown High School cafeteria for a number of years.

She was a member of the church of the Nazarene in Jamestown, ND.

She is survived by her children, Marcy (Ron) Harvala, Moorhead, MN; Debra Ketterling, Jamestown, ND; Juli (Chris) Cottrell, Lawrence, KS; Mark Ketterling, Jamestown, ND; Diane Ketterling, Sauk Rapids, MN; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clyde (Lorraine) Hoffman, Medford, OR and George (Cindy) Hoffman, Moscow, ID; 3 sisters, Martha (Dale) Coleman-Asche, Gwinner, ND, Mary Ann Martin, and June Koenig, all of Wildomar, CA; and a sister-in-law, Jewel Payton of Harlan, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2009, 2 grandchildren, Jason Fahlstom and Jason Dunn, 2 brothers Leonard and Robert.

Funeral service - 2:00 PM Monday May 16, 2016 in the Church of the Nazarene in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Matthew Zimmer, pastor officiating

Visitation- 1-4PM at the Funeral Home 5-6PM at the Church

Prayer Service - 6:00 PM Sunday May 15, 2016 at the Church

Burial- Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
