Esther Dockter, 93, Streeter, ND died Mother's Day Sunday May 10, 2009 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.
Esther Dockter was born December 14, 1915 on the family farm home 6 miles North of Streeter, ND, the daughter of John Dockter and Margertha (Finck) Dockter. She received her elementary education at the Newbury Township School #2, and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.
She and Rudolph Dockter were married February 12, 1935 on her parents' farm. They bought Rudolph's parents' farm which was 8 miles North and 2 miles West of Streeter, and started grain and cattle farming for 41 years, retiring in 1975 and moved to Wishek, ND. In 1995 they moved to Streeter, ND. After the death of her husband on October 29, 2001, Esther continued to reside in Streeter. On March 13, 2007 she moved into the Hi-Acres Manor nursing home in Jamestown, ND.
She was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND, WELCA, Ladies Aid, Merry Mixers Homemakers. She also volunteered at the Streeter Senior Center.
She loved her family dearly. She was active in vegetable and flower gardening, farming, sewing, quilting, cooking, and especially making kuchen.
She is survived by her children, Lenard (Linda) Dockter, Abilene, TX; Darrel (Marge) Dockter, Medina, ND; Reo (Debbie) Dockter Clarkston, MI; James (Tudy) Dockter, Bismarck, ND; Judy (Wolf) Eder, Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Kenneth (Florence) Dockter, Jamestown, ND; Mark Dockter, Streeter, ND; Dottie Elhard (Kent), Cleveland, ND; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Art Dockter, Sacramento, CA; Reuben Dockter, Sacramento, CA; 1 sister, Viola Zentner, Sacramento, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son, Paul in infancy, 5 sisters, Emma, Lydia, Matilda, Mary, Pauline, and 3 brothers, Philip, Elmer, and Theodore.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 16, 2009 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND, with Rev. Chris Hogstad, pastor officiating.
The interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Streeter, ND.
