Ervin (Erv) Eissinger, 82, Gackle, ND died early Wednesday morning November 8, 2006 at the Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Ervin was born July 5, 1924 in Wishek, ND, the son of Carl Eissinger and Lydia (Lang) Eissinger. He received his elementary education in the local school and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He entered the United State Army February 14, 1945 at Fort Snelling, MN. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and Japan. He was discharged November 29, 1946 at Fort Lewis, WA.

He and Colette Haut were married April 18, 1949 in Gackle, ND. They made their home in Gackle where Ervin was associated with Haut's Inc. Hardware Store. He served as President and Manager until his retirement. Following their retirement they have continued to reside in Gackle.

He was presently a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church of Windsor, ND and a past member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Gackle, having served as parish president. He was President/Secretary/treasurer of the Gackle Chamber of Commerce, served as alderman for 8 years and Mayor for 4 years of Gackle, Gackle Hospital board, Gackle Senior Citizens Club, Lifetime member of the Gackle Fire Dept having served as Chief, Area Trade and was a chairman in the Community Development Corporation in Gackle, Co - ordinator for the National Health Corp, procuring the dentist position in Gackle, the Bicentennial Committee, served 2 terms in the Silver-haired legislature, representing Logan County, the Gackle Country Club, Gackle Lions, Amateur Baseball Club and Wildlife Club, Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Jamestown, ND. He also was a member of the American Legion Mayer-Morlock Post No. 250 in Gackle serving as Commander & Adjutant, board member of the Logan County Aging, board member of the South Central Adult Services, and the South Central Senior Golf tour.

Surviving is his wife, Colette, Gackle, ND, 1 daughter, Jacquelyn Schaffer, Bemidji, MN,
5 grandchildren, Tony (Michelle) Schaffer, Joe (Brooke) Schaffer, Mike (Bridget) Schaffer, Tina (Dan) Shealy, Nick (AmyJo) Schaffer, 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 4 sisters, Edna Kosanke, Wishek, ND, Leone Deutcher, Yankton, SD, Arthur (Dorothy) Eissinger, Hazen, ND, Ida (LaMont) Cass, Rapid City, SD, Laura Peterson, LaMarque, TX, 2 sisters-in-law, Theresa Eissinger, Napoleon, ND, Catherine Eissinger, San Dimas, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Reinhold, Marvin and Benjamin.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday November 14, 2006 in the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, ND with Father Al Bitz, pastor officiating.

Interment will be made in the Gackle City Cemetery, North Dakota.
