Erna Schlenker, 92, Gackle, North Dakota, died Tuesday morning, September 18, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.
Erna Gienger was born February 16, 1914 on the family farm near Gackle, ND, the daughter of Jacob Gienger and Christina (Lippert) Gienger. She received her Elementary education at the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity, where she helped on the family farm.
She and Alexander (Alex) Schlenker were married March 27, 1941 at her parent's farm home near Gackle. They made their home on a farm 8 miles northwest of Gackle in Germania Township in Stutsman County, where they resided until 1966 they moved into Gackle for their retirement. After the death of her husband in 1975, Erna continued to reside in Gackle.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND. She also was a member of the Ruth Circle and Senior Citizens group.
She is survived by her brother Paul (Violet) Gienger, her sister Mrs. Mathilda Miller all of Gackle, ND and many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 6 sisters
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday September 23. 2006 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Russ Pollock, officiating pastor.
The interment will be made in the Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND.
